Primary Caregivers

Each Early Childhood Educator is a primary caregiver to 4 children. In accordance with the ELCC Regulations and our Centres’ policies, the primary caregiver is responsible for the majority of care during that child’s day. This includes feeding, diapering, and napping, as well as meeting individual social, emotional and developmental needs. Primary caregivers strive to develop a special bond with each of “their” children and to form positive relationships with parents. Secondary caregivers are also assigned to your child in the absence of the primary caregiver.

Transition

To ensure that your child’s move from the Toddler room to the Preschool room is as positive an experience as possible, the primary caregiver will visit on a regular basis with the child. These visits will provide the child with the opportunity to become acquainted with Preschool room staff and the program.
