Infant Care

There are 2 Infant rooms each licensed for 12 children from the ages of 3 to 24 months. A total of 4 Early Childhood Educators in each room, including 1 supervisor are responsible for the implementation of the program in this area. These ratios are in accordance with the Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC), which are as follows:
12 weeks – 2 years (1:4)

Toddler Care

 The Toddler room is licensed for 14 spaces for children 18 – 36 months. A total of 4 full time Early Childhood Educators are responsible for the Implementation of the program in this area. These ratios are in accordance with the ELCC, which are as follows:
12 weeks – 2 years (1:4)
2 years – 3 years (1:6)

Primary Caregivers

Each Early Childhood Educator is a primary caregiver to 4 children. In accordance with the ELCC Regulations and our Centres’ policies, the primary caregiver is responsible for the majority of care during that child’s day. This includes feeding, diapering, and napping, as well as meeting individual social, emotional and developmental needs. Primary caregivers strive to develop a special bond with each of “their” children and to form positive relationships with parents. Secondary caregivers are also assigned to your child in the absence of the primary caregiver.

Transition

To ensure that your child’s move from the Infant or Toddler room to the Toddler or Preschool room is as positive an experience as possible, the primary caregiver will visit on a regular basis with the child. These visits will provide the child with the opportunity to become acquainted with Toddler or Preschool room staff and the program.

Preschool Care

The Preschool program is licensed for 64 spaces for children ages 2-5 years. There are 2 Preschool areas with 32 children in each. A total of 10 Early Childhood Educators  including 2 lead staff are responsible for the implementation of the program in this area. These ratios are in accordance with the ELCC, which are as follows:
2 years – 6 years (1:8)

8:30-9:15 Free Flow Snack, Diapers, Free Play

9:15-12:00: Activities, Bathroom, Cleanup, Outdoor Play (full or partial group), Free Play, Art, Group Activities

12:00-1:00 Lunch, Bathroom, Stories,

1:00 - 2:30: Nap time

1:30 Non-nappers arise and other children as they wake

2:30-3:15 Wake up for rest of children/ Free Flow Snack

3:15-4:45 Free Play, Activities, Outdoor Play

4:45-5:30 Quiet Activities, Departure

Playroom

The Playrooms are divided into what is termed "Learning Centers". Some of the Learning Centers available are as follows:

• Art Center
• Science Center
• Library Center
• Dramatic Play Center/Daily Living Center
• Blocks and Truck Center
• Manipulative Toy Center
• Carpentry Center
• Large Muscle Play Area
• Sand and Water Play Centers
• Music Center
• Puzzle Center

Each of these centers are available to all the children on a daily basis. These learning centers are designed to facilitate and enhance the children’s play experiences, thus capitalizing on teachable moments.

Nutrition

Snack: The Centres provide a morning breakfast, an afternoon snack and milk for the children. A weekly snack menu will be posted.  Children are encouraged to try all food and to drink their milk.

Hot lunch: A nutritious hot lunch based on the Canada Food Guide is provided on a daily basis. A variety of foods are offered and children are encouraged to try them all and finish as much as possible. The parents will provide alternative foods for those children with food allergies. Two week rotational menus are posted on the parent’s bulletin board. Changes to the menus may be made in accordance to supplies on hand.
